Jim Thome has gotten on base 34 straight games. I don't know what the all time record is, but it must be at least 56 games.
I wonder if Dimaggio's on base streak ended at 56 games. He went 0-4 against our beloved Indians to quell the streak, but did he get a walk that game?
Dimaggio then went on another 15 game streak after his 56 game streak was broken, so if he had gotten a walk against the Indians, he would be up to 72 games, but I don't think he got a walk in that pivotal 57th game.
Here is an article on Gary Sheffield breaking the Atlanta record for on-base streaks.
Derek Jeter has had at least one really big streak with the Yankees, I think it went at least 50 games.

Sheffield extends on-base streak to 51 games
July 26, 2002
ATLANTA (AP) -- Braves star Gary Sheffield reached base for the 51st straight game Friday night, singling in the fourth inning off Philadelphia lefty Randy Wolf.
Sheffield already holds the Braves' franchise record for reaching safely by any method, surpassing the 48-game streak Atlanta's Dale Murphy set in 1987. San Diego's Ryan Klesko had a 56-game streak earlier this year.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the longest streak since 1975 was Mark McGwire's 62-gamer in 1995-96.

After all the great years Thome's given the Indians he just continues to become a better and better hitter. He's much more disciplined this year as the K's have decreased significantly. I hate to make comparisons but could he mirror Barry Bonds career? Bonds has become a much more disciplined hitter the past 6 years and I see alot of that in Thome. Every year the home run swing gets better and better and sometimes it just seems he can hit them at will. Hopefully Karim can provided the protection in the #5 spot for years to come. If all is right in the world Jimmy's gotta finish his career here because before he retires he'll be known as one of the best to ever play.

Thome is up to 42 games.
I guess Mcqwire is considered the "record holder" at 62 games, at least going back to 1975.
Well, there aren't enough games left this year for Thome to break the record, and with his notoriously cold starts in April....

It seems like Thome has kept his average around .285-295 all season. That's a lot more consistant than we're used to seeing from him.
Dolan would be a fool to let him go. The Tribe fan base would dry up mighty quick without him.

Thome was horrible for about the first 15-20 days of May. Since then, he has probably been a .300-.305 hitter.

Oops, I meant to say April.
Milton Bradley has reached base in 31 or 32 straight games, quite impressive. I think he's reached base so far in every game he's played this year.
